Hot Tubs and Spas

Millions of people all over the world are discovering the pleasures of hot tubs, or as they are more commonly referred to as they have evolved into something more luxurious – spas. Hot tubs have come on a long way over the years, and they are attractive, relaxing, can be beneficial for your health, incorporate a number of useful features, and in real terms have come down in price.

Before rushing out and buying a hot tub there are a few things to ask yourself first. Do you want an indoor hot tub or an outdoor tub? Would you prefer an above ground model or an in ground model?

How many seats will you want? A hot tub with just 2 seats can be a different shape than one which has 4 or 6 seats, for example. The number of seats will go some way to determine the size of the hot tub, so going overboard and choosing one with many more seats than you really need will mean more space is taken up, as well as the additional cost that a larger model will mean.

Gone are the days when a hot tub was simply a wooden tub and usually stored outside. They had enough room for just one or two persons to sit in, often not very comfortably. In other words, they were as basic as you could get, with no jets, bubbles, or other features we now take for granted. Hence the reason for the more upmarket term, spa.

The marvellous thing about modern-day hot tubs and spas is the amount of accessories now available for many models. For real luxury, at a price, there are entertainment options such as CD and DVD players, as well as flat screen televisions which can be fitted. And if you enjoy surround sound, speakers can be built into the units too for that real touch of luxury.

For a romantic evening, picture the two of you enjoying a starlit soak under the night sky, a bottle of chilled champagne, there in your outdoor hot tub.

If your preference is for an indoor hot tub, certain considerations have to be given prior to fitting.  Not only space, but positioning of the unit due to its weight, adequate ventilation, drainage, minimizing bacteria problems caused by condensation etc. These are points which a professional hot tub installer ought to be able to advise you on.
