There is something about a hot tub that says “romance.” Whether it’s the sound of the gently bubbling water, the steam from the water, the atmospheric lighting, the relaxed atmosphere, or just the intimacy of it all, tubs and romance go well together. Romantic tubs can be very pleasurable. To enjoy some romance between the two of you, you’ll need everything to be just right. So, this is where preparation is the key. It would be a pity to spoil what should be a romantic time together just because something has been forgotten.
The water needs to be at just the right temperature. Romance doesn’t come easy when one of you is shivering, or too hot. It is generally recommended that the temperature should never rise above 104-degrees Fahrenheit or 40-degrees Celsius. Water that is too hot can pose a danger to users, such as stroke, heart attack and feeling sick. Anyone with high blood pressure in particular should also be careful about the heat in the tub. Adjust the temperature to suit both of you, as far as that is possible. The optimum temperature seems to be around 100 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
Scented candles will help to create a relaxing atmosphere. That’s a great excuse for turning the lights down. Romance can be helped by music. Not the rock and roll kind, something soothing playing at low level in the background. Remember though, water and electricity don’t mix, so keep electrical installations like radios well away from the tub. Having towels close at hand means you can get out of the tub and wrap the towel around you, and if your hands are dry you run less risk of problems if you do touch something electrical.
Spa scents are available which are in liquid form. Put them into your tub and it will add a lovely fragrance, as well as eliminating any chlorine smell in the water. You don’t want anything too strong, just with a subtle scent. Time spent in romantic tubs can truly be a time of enjoyment, as long as the conditions are just right.
